R.H. Coutier Grand Cru Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Pierre Aux Larrons 2015
94 points Vinous Media
A new wine in this range, the 2015 Brut Nature Pierre Aux Larrons Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru emerges from Coutier's oldest Chardonnay in Ambonnay, planted in 1948. The Brut Nature emphasizes the power of Chardonnay. I imagine a touch of dosage might have softened the wine a bit, but no matter, the 2015 is simply stunning. There is a feeling of translucent energy and starkness that I find especially compelling. Chalk, white flowers, mint, white pepper and lemon peel linger. What a wine! Disgorged: March, 2020.
Soil: Soil is composed by fine silts on the top with limestone (white chalk) subsoil.
Vinification: Aged one year in barrel, 100% malolactic fermentation, unfined and filtered
Aging: 72 months sur lattes, Dosage 2.5 g/L; Disgorgement December 2024
Production: 3000 bottles
