Goodfellow Pinot Noir Whistling Ridge Vineyard 2023
95 pts Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck)
A transparent red hue, the 2023 Pinot Noir Whistling Ridge Vineyard is sourced from Ribbon Ridge and boasts notes of ripe raspberries, darker spice, gravelly earth, and hints of clove. Medium-bodied, it has grippy tannins at this youthful stage, with a refreshing spine of acidity and a good deal of length. It’s firmly structured and requires some patience for it to unfold. Drink 2026-2046.
93 pts Vinous
Drinking Window 2028 - 2036
The 2023 Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge Whistling Ridge is darkly enticing with a spicy bouquet that blends crushed blackberries with nuances of white pepper, stone dust and sage. It is cool-toned and sleek, with a vividly silken feel contrasted by citrus-tinged red berry fruits. Crisp minerals mix with edgy tannins as the 2023 finishes long and structured, leaving behind a chewy concentration. - By Eric Guido on July 2025
Our Tasting Note
Medium ruby, lighter edges. Super perfumed, very complex. Raspberry and strawberry fruit, slightly darker but also fresher paradoxically. Medium body, stricter, firmer youthful tannins, a pronounced, elegant, cool, long and complex finish. Excellent!
13% ABV Fermentation was non-inoculated and 100% whole cluster, in 1.5 ton lots. Whistling Ridge Vineyard sits ridge-top in the western edge of the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The vines catch the daily winds that blow in, slowing ripening, evaporating moisture, and cooling fruit. Shallow soils are eroded from uplifted marine sedimentary rock, 40 to 50 million years old, and dry out quickly in the growing season.
